Maria Trebby
December 5, 1949 — April 8, 2026
Maria Trebby passed away in her sleep on April 8, 2026. She is survived by several siblings and a son, Sam Strother. She was a dedicated educator for over 30 years and specialized in teaching foreign languages. Born and raised on Martha's Vineyard island off of the coast of Massachusetts, Maria was part of a large family of working class Italian immigrants. Maria was deeply proud of her heritage and often recounted experiences from her upbringing that shaped her character. She was studious and highly educated. She traveled the world, living on multiple continents, both by herself and with her first husband, Jim. She retired in Boise, Idaho and spent her last years with her husband George Rogers hiking in the foothills, volunteering to support St. Michael's Cathedral, and supporting the Italian American Club of Boise. She is survived by her son, her sisters Bettina, Carla, and Julia and her brothers John and Thomas. Her ashes will be laid to rest in the Boise foothills, an urn at St. Michael's, and Martha's Vineyard in respect for her family's request.
