Marlin Roman Glaesemann
September 2, 1935 — April 7, 2026
Marlin “Mark” Romain Glaesemann, 90, of Boise, Idaho, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 7, 2026, after a long illness. He was born on September 2, 1935, in Elgin, North Dakota, to Alfred and Martha (Dietz) Glaesemann, and was the second oldest of six children. Mark is survived by his son Gary (Melissa Pierce) of Boise, ID, daughter Karen (David King) of Florida, and brother Max Glaesemann of Burley, ID. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Beverly; his parents; brothers Delbert and Duane; and sisters Elnor Woodbury and Donna Jones.
Mark grew up in Burley, Idaho, where he worked with his brothers on the family farm, often riding his horse to school and hunting in the South Hills. A graduate of Burley High School in 1954, Mark joined the U.S. Army shortly thereafter, serving in Korea and Japan shortly after the Korean war ended. His enlistment took him to Petaluma, California, where he reconnected with high school sweetheart Beverly Joan Randell. They would eventually marry on February 15, 1958.
Settling in Sunnyvale, California, Mark and Beverly both worked for Hewlett Packard in Palo Alto until 1962, when Beverly became a stay at home mother to the first of their two children. Karen was born in 1962, followed by Gary in 1965. Mark was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as a Scoutmaster in the Sunnyvale 2nd Ward and later in the Santa Rosa 3rd Ward after moving the family to Santa Rosa, CA in 1975. Hewlett Packard offered Mark the opportunity to transfer to the Boise HP plant, and the family finally made its way back to Idaho in 1979. Mark put in nearly 40 years with Hewlett Packard, retiring from his management position in 1998.
An avid hunter and outdoor enthusiast, Mark took his young family camping almost every weekend, exploring many State and National Parks including Yosemite, Yellowstone, and the Grand Canyon. As a Scoutmaster he led his scouts on numerous “50 Milers” in the Sierra Nevada mountains and shared his love for nature by teaching them to build their own kayaks. After returning to Idaho, Mark renewed his passion for hunting, and was a highly skilled elk, deer, and turkey hunter. He had a deep love for motorcycles, often embarking on long journeys with his buddies on his cherished Honda Gold Wing.
Mark took immense pride in his yardwork, meticulously tending to his lawn, which he nurtured to resemble a pristine putting green.
The Glaesemann family wishes to extend heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Auburn Crest Hospice for their compassionate care and support during this difficult time, as well as the staff at Truewood Assisted Living Facility, where Mark spent the last two years of his life.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 23rd, at 11:00 AM at Summers Funeral Home, located at 3629 East Ustick Road, Meridian, ID 83646. A catered BBQ luncheon will follow the service, with a graveside service to take place at Meridian Cemetery.
