Patricia Anne Peebles

In Celebration of Patricia Anne (Swan) Peebles
June 21, 1945 – March 29, 2026
On the morning of March 29, 2026, Patricia Anne Peebles, 80, stepped gently from this life into the next. She passed as she lived—immersed in the immense love of her family and a chorus of prayers from the countless friends whose lives she touched. Her husband of 58 years, Rand, was by her side, a final chapter in a love story that began sixty years ago in the beauty of Oahu’s Manoa Valley.
Pat was a woman who didn't just witness life’s beauty; she cultivated it. Whether she was leading the Merry Tillers Garden Club, spotting a rare bird through her binoculars, or caring for her beloved cats, Renny and Nalani, Pat lived with a vibrant appreciation for the natural world. This same grace defined her career in education. As a Montessori Teacher in Ketchum, Idaho and elementary school teacher in the Blaine County School District, she was a quiet force of patience. She possessed the rare gift of seeing the inherent good in every child, meeting every challenge with a gentle word and a belief in their potential.
Her heart for service extended far beyond the classroom. From the shores of Oahu, where she reigned as Waianae High’s Homecoming Queen, to her years as a compassionate volunteer at the Wood River and Holy Apostles Food Banks, Pat’s life was an masterclass in kindness. She moved through the world with an infectious warmth that drew people to her, leaving every place a little brighter than she found it.
Pat graduated from Waianae High School on the West side of Oahu in 1963 where she was active in student government, cheerleading, and drill team. She was the homecoming queen in the Fall of 1962. In the Fall of 1963, Pat enrolled at the University of Hawaii (UH) graduating in 1969 with her degree in Sociology. Upon graduation she carved a 12-year career with United Airlines in Honolulu then in San Francisco. Several years later she went back to school and earned her teaching certificate from Boise State University.
While at the UH Pat met Rand Peebles. This wonderous meeting happened in January 1966 and they were married September 2nd, 1967, at St Pius X church nestled in the Manoa Valley of Honolulu. Two days later Pat and Rand started their junior year at the UH.
Her legacy of love lives on in her husband, Rand; her two sons, Matthew and Evan; and her six cherished grandchildren, Jasz, Jezell, Miles, Jasmine, Logan and Cara. She also leaves behind a beloved brother, Robert Swan of Hatfield, PA, and sister, Virginia Peterlin of Eaton, PA, along with a community of nieces, grandnieces, and lifelong friends.
Pat was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Ann Swan. While she has been laid to rest at Dry Creek Cemetery, her spirit remains in every blooming garden and every birdsong.
