Anna Zederbauer Spradlin

Jun 1, 1931 — Jun 21, 2026

Anna Zederbauer Spradlin, 95, of Sun City Center passed away June 21, 2026 at Plaza West Health Center.

Anna was born June 1, 1931 in Ansfelden, Austria to Franz and Marie Zwirn Zederbauer. She was the seventh of eight children. Her mother died when she was eight. What rejoicing there must have been when she was reunited with those she preceded in death: her beloved husband, Herbert Spradlin, and cherished son, Gerald D. Spradlin, who was the youngest pilot shot down in Vietnam during the Vietnam Conflict; her parents, her siblings and some niece and nephews.

Anna is survived by her loving sister-in-law Irene Zederbauer of Traun, Austria; nephews and nieces: Emma Buchberger of Haid, Austria; Heidemarie Glasner of Linz, Austria; Gottfried Helfrich of Allhaming, Austria; Hans Hermann Helfrich of Ansfelden, Austria; Herbert Helfrich of St. Florian, Austria; Christine Hinz of Linz, Austria; Gotlinde Höllhuber of St. Oswald, Austria; Helga Lendl, Haid, Austria; Karl Lendl of Hörsching, Austria; Ulrike Papula of Haid, Austria; Renate Quast of Bad Zell, Austria; Brigitte Schopf of Wien, Austria; Waltraud Witzmann of Hörsching, Austria; Manfred Zederbauer of Linz, Austria; Helmut Zederbauer of Weßling, Germany; Wilhelm Zederbauer of Linz, Austria; Linda Jones of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; Kiney Couch of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; Marilyn Johnson of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; and caring neighbors Deb and Ron Vaughan.

Anna and Herbert met in a post canteen while he was stationed in Austria and were soon married. Since he was a career soldier they lived in many places. They retired in Daleville, Alabama, and then moved to Tampa before moving to Sun City Center.

Anna was a strong woman who was able to handle the trauma given to her in life. She was positive and tried to see the good in people and situations. She was resilient and relied on her Christian faith for strength. Anna loved to share memories of growing up on a dairy farm with big gardens and fruit trees. She had vivid memories of soldiers and homeless stopping at their home for food—none were turned away. She remembered when the allied troops entered Austria during WWII and was so thankful for the United States. Anna enjoyed cooking and visiting with friends and attending live music events. She was an excellent polka dancer.
