Cassandra Lee Carter "Cassy"

Sep 28, 1988 — Jul 18, 2026

With heavy hearts and loving memories, we announce the passing of Cassandra Lee Carter (née Winkle) , affectionately known as Cassy, who departed this life on July 18, 2026, in Riverview, Florida. Cassy was born on September 28, 1988, in Greenfield, Indiana, a place that remained dear to her heart no matter where life’s journey led her.

Cassy graduated class of 2007 East Hancock High School, where she was a member of the swim team. During her teen years she was super active in the youth group at Calvary Baptist Church in Greenfield. Later she earned her RN degree from Southern Tech, Tampa and was employed by Lifepath Hospice and Gulfside Hospice, showing kindness and compassion to those she cared for.

She was full of life and personality; a free spirit with a great sense of humor. Cassy enjoyed playing board and card games, spending countless hours putting puzzles together, long walks on a sandy beach, watching and playing soccer, shopping at thrift stores, and creating one of kind hand-crafted items. Cassy's greatest love of all was her family, and she treasured the time spent with her family, whether it was a simple day at home or a day at Disney World.

Cassy leaves behind her devoted husband, Richard "Danny" Carter, who stood faithfully by her side through all of life's joys and challenges. Her children; son Landin, daughters Zoey and Delaney, whose lives have been forever enriched by her unconditional love and guidance. Her parents, Steve and Amy Winkle, who nurtured in her a spirit of compassion and resilience from her earliest days, family formed the very heart of her world, and she found her greatest purpose and joy in their presence, brother Jacob Winkle, who will hold her memory close in the years to come, Aunt Lori Childers, who held a special place in Cassy's heart, a bonus mom, Bridget Foy who loved Cassy as her own daughter, best friend Brooke, a more loyal friend could not be found. Cassy also leaves behind her caring mother-in-law and sister-in-law, with whom she shared many cherished family moments, a large extended family and friends too numerous to mention.

She was preceded in death by her Mamaw Janice Johns and her Papaw Howard Johns, her grandpa William Winkle and grandma Mary Winkle.

Cassy’s life, though far too brief, was rich in love and meaning. As a beloved wife, dedicated mother, cherished daughter, and treasured friend, she touched countless lives with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those around her. Her smile could light up any room, and her gentle spirit brought comfort and happiness to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

As the family navigates this profound loss, they do so wrapped in the legacy of hope, kindness, and courage that Cassandra embodied each and every day. Her spirit will forever inspire all who had the pleasure of sharing in her life.
