Jay A. King    October 2, 1931 – May 31, 2026

Jay A. King, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, at the age of 94.

Born on October 2, 1931, in Redwood, New York, Jay spent his early years in the close-knit community he would always consider home. He attended Canton ATC beginning in 1949 and graduated in 1951 with a degree in Mechanical Technology. Shortly after graduation, Jay moved to Schenectady, New York, to begin what would become a remarkable career with the General Electric Company.

While living in Schenectady, Jay met the love of his life, Audrey, through the Adult Lutheran League. Their friendship blossomed into a lifelong partnership, and they were married in 1958. Together they built a loving family and shared nearly seven decades of devotion, companionship, and cherished memories.

Jay enjoyed an outstanding 42½-year career with General Electric, beginning in Schenectady in 1951 and concluding with his retirement from the company's Evendale, Ohio, operations in 1993. Throughout his career, he was respected for his technical expertise, strong work ethic, and dedication to excellence.

Following retirement, Jay and Audrey moved to Florida in 1995, where they enjoyed many happy years together. Retirement provided Jay with the opportunity to pursue the hobbies and interests he loved most. He took great pride in building a riding steam engine train, enjoyed traveling, and spent countless rewarding hours constructing intricate UGO mini wood models. His creativity, patience, and craftsmanship were evident in everything he built.

Jay is survived by his devoted wife, Audrey King of Sun City Center, Florida; his son Daniel King and wife Donna of Saratoga, New York; and his son Steven King of Burnt Hills, New York. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father, a dedicated professional, a skilled builder, and a kind and thoughtful man whose steady presence enriched the lives of those around him.

A Funeral Service will take place Sunday, August 16, 2026 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, followed by a Graveside Interment at Redwood Cemetery in Redwood, New York, where Jay will be laid to rest in the community that shaped his earliest years and remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Jay's family finds comfort in the many memories they shared with him and in the legacy of love, integrity, and perseverance he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
