Robert Edward Olenick

March 24, 1940 — April 14, 2026

Robert Edward “Bob” Olenick, age 86, of Sun City Center, Florida, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, family, and cherished memories. He was born on March 24, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, to Edward and Frances Olenick, who preceded him in death.

Bob grew up on the South Side of Chicago, where he developed the strong values and work ethic that would guide him throughout his life. He graduated from Saint Rita High School and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He went on to build a long career as a skilled machinist, working for Intermatic and Channer Corporation.

Bob spent many years living in Antioch, Illinois, before retiring to Sun City Center, Florida. He was an avid sports fan who remained loyal to his Chicago roots, passionately supporting the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. In his younger years, he enjoyed skiing and boating, and throughout his life he found great joy in camping and fishing.  Camping was an integral part of who Bob was, and he camped throughout the United States, creating lasting memories with his family and friends along the way.

Bob was also known for his warm personality and memorable quirks, especially his signature way of responding to just about anything with a drawn-out “alll-right,” a simple phrase that became a comforting and familiar part of conversations with him and a lasting reminder of his easygoing nature.

Above all, Bob was a devoted and loving family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Darlene Olenick; his brother, Daniel Olenick (Carol Olenick); and his three daughters: Tricia McLaren (David McLaren), Deanna Denman (Michael Denman), and Melissa Olenick. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Taylor, Haley, Hannah, and Brandon Denman; Maxwell and Camron McGuire; and Kaden McLaren. His family was his greatest pride, and he will be remembered for his steady presence, kindness, and deep love for those around him.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on June 13, 2026, with additional details to be shared at a later time.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
