Russell Michael Foti

Jul 7, 1938 — May 15, 2026

Russell Foti, age 87, of Kings Point Sun City Center, FL, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026.

Russell was born on July 7, 1938, in New York, NY, to Jerry and Jenny Foti (Cataldo).

Russell retired from the State of Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles, where he worked for 10 years. Before that, he wore many hats; he sold cars, was the owner/broker of Berkshire Realty Co, and worked at The American Can Company in the 1970s. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Russell served in Fort Benning, GA, as a volunteer lifeguard.

Always involved in his community (and never turning away from an argument if he could advocate for someone or something), Russ was an elected member of the City of Danbury Common Council, as well as Chairman of the City Zoning Commission in the 1980s. Also, in the 1980s, Russell was known as "Coach Foti" to many at the Danbury Little League. After retirement, he served as President of his homeowner's association in Kings Point, Sun City Center, FL; he was a volunteer dispatcher for the Sun City Emergency Squad for 10 years; and a volunteer at the Computer Club.

Russell is survived by his wife of 60 years, Angela Foti (Greco); his son, Gerald (Mary) Foti; daughter, Janine Hartfield; grandchildren, Vincent Foti, Celeste Mauro (Hartfield), Anthony Hartfield; great-grandchildren, Jedidiah and Olivia; a sister, Bernadette Libretta; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and many cousins.

Russell enjoyed his friends and his family and was a bigger than life personality. He enjoyed traveling the world with Angela, golfing and Rays games with his buddies, going to lunch with the ROMEOS at Beanies, and Friday night dinners with his friends Sal, Sally, Bob and Whitey. He will be missed by all who loved him.

A celebration of life will be held on July 11, 2026, at 2pm at the Kings Point North Clubhouse Banquet Room, Sun City, FL, for all who can attend.
