Corinne Annette Baker

November 23, 1929 — May 24, 2026

Corinne Baker, age 96, passed away peacefully in her bed on May 24, 2026.

Corinne was born on November 23, 1929, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Harry Clifford Lindholm and Florence Corinne (Colburn) Lindholm. She grew up surrounded by a large extended family and treasured the memories of family gatherings, picnics, and summers spent at her grandfather’s cabin on Sugar Lake in Minnesota, where she played with her many cousins.

From childhood, Corinne displayed a joyful spirit and a natural artistic talent. She loved tap dancing and singing and often performed in recitals. She also loved to draw from an early age, revealing a lifelong gift for art and creativity. She graduated from Patrick Henry High School in Minneapolis in 1947.

In her early twenties, Corinne left Minnesota and moved to Arizona, where she lived in Tucson and later Phoenix. There she worked in clerical services for a police department. After four years, she moved to California, where she pursued classes in Technical Illustration in Los Angeles. She later began working in the art department at Rockwell International in Downey, California, where she met William C. Baker (“Bill”).

Corinne and Bill married and built a life together in Bellflower, California, where they raised their two daughters, Carrie and Laura.

Throughout her life, Corinne continued to pursue her passions for music, dancing, and art. She played the piano and performed in numerous singing and dancing productions at the Downey Theater. She was involved with her local art association and continued taking art classes and created many beautiful oil paintings. Her favorite subjects were flowers and landscapes. In a letter to her mother, she once wrote, “Painting brings me such enjoyment. It opens my eyes to nature and the world around us.”

Corinne also loved to travel and cherished time spent with family across the country. She enjoyed visiting her brother in New Hampshire and later traveled often to see Carrie’s family in North Carolina and Pennsylvania. Some of her favorite adventures included a Mexican Riviera cruise with her daughters and five grandchildren, a Mediterranean cruise with her daughters to celebrate her 80th birthday, and celebrating her 90th birthday in Las Vegas with her children and grandchildren.

Corinne’s husband Bill passed away in 2001. In 2014, Corinne moved from California to Annapolis, Maryland, to be near Carrie and Scott. In 2023, she followed them to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, where she spent her final years close to family.

Corinne is survived by her daughter Carrie Kleinjan and son-in-law Scott Kleinjan of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; daughter Laura Baker of Tustin, California; five grandchildren: Josh Kleinjan of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Kathryn Kleinjan of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; Eric Kleinjan of Cary, North Carolina; Aaron Briones and wife Alex Francoeur of Long Beach, California; and Lauren Briones Nelson and her husband John Nelson of Silverado, California as well as two great-grandchildren, Jude Briones and Arlo Briones.

She is also survived by her brother Robert Lindholm of Hope Sound, Florida; nephew Erik Lindholm and niece Christine Lindholm Chronis.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday June 11, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the Honey Horn Chapel at First Presbyterian Church 540 William Hilton Parkway, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926.

Corinne will be interred next to her late husband at Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, California.

Corinne will be remembered for her sense of humor, colorful style, artistic spirit, and love of family.
