Kenneth Alexander Capps
November 22, 1937 — January 31, 2022
Ken was born to Albert and Bessie Capps in Lowell, North Carolina, where he spent the majority of his life and married his high school sweetheart, Charlotte. He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Lowell, worked for the Public Service Company for thirty-five years, and was a member of the Lowell Masonic Lodge #590 as a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite. Ken loved his church. After becoming a member in 1948, he served as a deacon and chairman of the building and grounds committee. Anytime the church held a dinner or yard sale, he was ready to help.Sports were a huge part of his life. He played softball for both his company and church teams. He loved to teach young players the game. He coached the church softball team for over thirty years, and served as a baseball and basketball coach for the East Gaston Boys Club. After his sons, Jeff and Mark, had graduated, Ken continued to support Ashbrook High School athletics. Kenneth is preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Ann Capps; his parents, Albert Alexander Capps and Bessie Caldwell Capps; and his brother, Albert Richard Capps.He is survived by his sons, Mark Todd Capps (his wife, Kalea) and Jeffrey Alexander Capps; and granddaughters, Elizabeth Ann Capps, and Brandi Capps. He is also survived by a brother, Paul Capps (Pete); and his sister, Joyce Hoffman (JB).Kenneth was loved by his family and many in the community and will be dearly missed. Due to the COVID-19 situation, a Celebration of Life is planned for the spring of 2023 in North Carolina.In lieu of flowers, please consider making a blood donation to your local blood bank. Kenneth was a dedicated blood donor.
