Lloyd Richard Copeland Jr.
February 4, 1937 — May 31, 2025
Chief Master Sergeant Lloyd Richard Copeland Jr, United States Air Force (Retired), passed away at the age of 88 on May 31st, 2025 with his daughters by his side. He leaves behind a legacy of service, dedication, laughter, and love.
Born in 1937 in Jefferson City, MO, Lloyd Copeland devoted 28 proud years to serving his country in the United States Air Force, rising to the highest enlisted rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Throughout his distinguished career, he exemplified leadership, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to excellence. One of the greatest honors of his service was working on the maintenance crew of Air Force One during President Jimmy Carter’s administration — a role he held with pride and responsibility.
After his retirement from active duty, Lloyd continued to serve in the most important roles of all as a dedicated father and grandfather. He was the steady hand, the tireless provider, and the protector of his family. His selflessness was matched only by his wit, his gift of conversation, and his humorous banter.
He was especially cherished by his daughters. To them, he was more than a father; he was a hero, a friend, and a source of unconditional love and support.
Lloyd will be remembered for the laughs that he shared, his sharp sense of humor, and his devotion to his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Copeland Sr and Irene Mae Schanuth Copeland, his daughter, Janet Mae Copeland, his brother James H. Copeland, and his sister Ruth M. Wright. He is survived by his beloved daughters Diana Copeland and Evelyn Copeland, his cherished grandson Noah King, his brothers Jack M. Copeland, Floyd W. Copeland, Jerry R. Copeland, his sister Joan D. Graham, and the friends and fellow airmen whose lives he touched.
A celebration of his life and service will be held on June 16th, 2025 at 10:00am at Pikes Peak National Cemetery. He will be laid to rest with full military honors, in recognition of a life lived with courage and devotion.
"Aim High, Chief — we’ll take it from here."
