Robert Elliot Lucas

Robert Elliot Lucas, 55, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on
May 30, 2026, in Colorado Springs while doing what he loved most—being
outdoors and riding his mountain bike.


Rob was born on May 18, 1971, in Colorado Springs to John Ingling Lucas
Jr. and Helen Mae Lucas. He attended People's Bible College, graduating
in 1989, and later earned a degree in Software Engineering from the
University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS).


Rob worked as a Software Engineer for 31 years. Beyond his professional
career, he was passionate about cycling, photography, and the outdoors.
His accomplishments included receiving the Award of Merit, earning the
UMCA Mileage Challenge Certification after riding 3,083 miles, receiving
a Certificate of Qualification for Race Across America, and being
recognized with an Honorable Mention in the 2017 Discover Colorado
Springs Calendar Photo Contest. He also participated in the Leadville
100 and Silver Rush races and was an active member of Incline Friends,
where he shared his love for the Manitou Incline and often donated
proceeds from his annual photography calendars to support its
maintenance.


Rob will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his generosity, his
love of nature, and the kindness he showed to everyone he met. His
enthusiasm for life inspired many, and he will be deeply missed by all
who knew and loved him.


Rob loved the Lord and sought to reflect Christ's love through the way
he lived, served, and cared for others. His faith was evident not only
in his words but in his actions, and he leaves behind a legacy of
compassion, humility, and service.


He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Mae Lucas.


Rob is survived by his father, John Ingling Lucas Jr.; his siblings,
Johnathon, Esther, David, and Barb; his loving wife, Julie; his
daughters, Danielle and Cassidy; and his cherished granddaughter,
Magnolia.

Friends or to the "Support Rob's Family After His Tragic Loss" GoFundMe.


An open-casket viewing will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from
5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Springs Funeral Services, 4310 Austin Bluffs
Parkway, Colorado Springs, CO 80918.


A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at
Woodmen Valley Chapel, 8292 Woodmen Valley View, Colorado Springs, CO
80908.


Rob's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched, the
trails he loved, and the memories he created with family and friends.
Though he is deeply missed, those who knew him find comfort in knowing
he is now in the presence of his Savior, and his example of faith,
adventure, generosity, and love will continue to inspire generations to
come.
