Carl Lester Marshall
December 24, 1957 — February 2, 2025
Carl Lester Marshall, lovingly known as Lester or PaPaw, passed away on February 2, 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born on December 24, 1957 in Beebe, Arkansas, Lester lived a life of deep faith, unwavering love, and steadfast service to his family, country, and community.
Carl served 16 years in the United States Navy as an Electronics Warfare Technician (EW1) and a correctional officer. Following his military service, he pursued a diverse career, working with Dish Network, PrimeStar Network, RadioShack, and later driving a bus for a disabled veterans—a role that reflected his lifelong dedication to helping others.
He was a devoted husband to his wife of 37 years, Theresa Marshall, and a loving father to his four sons, Roger, Jason, Aaron and Brandon and one daughter, Elaina. Carl cherished his nine grandchildren and his canine companion Lucy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Hicks Marshall and Mozelle Marshall; and was one of eight brothers.
Lester was a man of faith, a proud member of the Choctaw Indian Nation, and actively involved with the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. He was passionate about Jesus, loved his Oklahoma Sooners and Dallas Cowboys, Disney, anything electronic, reading Star Wars books, and even had an interest in finding Bigfoot. His giving spirit was evident in every aspect of his life—he never hesitated to take others in and treat them as his own, raising three stepsons without ever calling them anything but his boys. He never met a stranger, always ready to share a cup of coffee and a conversation. A small-town country man, Lester genuinely cared about people’s stories, where they came from, and where they were going. His sense of humor was as warm as his heart, often punctuated with his favorite phrases: “Shoot ya…” or “Don’t tell Teri.”
Above all, Carl will be remembered as a dedicated husband, father, brother, and friend who loved God and cared deeply for everyone’s soul. A Celebration of Life and Military Honors Procession will be held at Pikes Peak National Cemetery on Friday, February 21, 2025 at 15:00.
