Christina Kosley

Christina (Chris) (Manyik) Kosley, 91, of Colorado Springs passed away on April 16, 2026. She was preceded in death by her spouse Raymond Kosley, parents Joe and Helen Manyik, son Andy Kosley, siblings Delmer Manyik and Kathleen Neptune. Chris leaves behind three daughters: Cindy Henry, Becky Kosley, and Susan Kosley (Andy). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Chad Allgood (Betsy), Nicholas Henry, Daniel Henry (Lea), and Sarah Teitelbaum (Justin); and her great-grandchildren: Charlotte Mitchell (Eythen), Savannah Allgood, Wyatt Raymond Henry, Warren Eddy, Reese Eddy, and Ella Eddy. She also is survived by her only living sibling, younger sister Shirley Skidmore, her sisters-in-law Millie Manyik (Delmer), Edna Kosley (Larry), and Ruth Kosley (Richard), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Chris graduated from Calhan High School and then attended Blair Business College. Soon after college, she met her beloved husband Ray, with whom she shared nearly 69 devoted years of marriage.

She was a homemaker before she and Ray opened RayKo Supply. She did all of the bank deposits and kept the books for the business. When the business closed she went to work for Farmer’s Insurance.

Survivors of Chris speak fondly about how Ray and Chris shared their faith. She was baptized as an infant at St Mary’s Orthodox Church in Calhan. She joined the Lutheran Church when she married Ray and became a charter member of Prince of Peace when the congregation formed.

She never met a stranger; only friends she hadn't met yet. It didn’t matter where we would go, she would start talking to strangers and sooner or later they were talking like old friends. She always went out of her way to make people feel welcome.

From the time when she was 9 or 10 she began preparing meals for field hands. She always welcomed people into her home and made sure that they had plenty to eat and drink. Her Mississippi Mud cake was famous at the Kosley family picnic.

Like all farm children, she began doing chores early and never quit. She helped her mom in the kitchen and her dad in the fields. Even when she was 91, she continued to do chores. She was the energizer bunny doing laundry, dishes, cooking, and cleaning until she couldn’t any more at the end.

She loved to read and she loved children. She crocheted, cross-stiched, canned, and liked to cook. She enjoyed people watching, playing cards, going to Cripple Creek, and bowling. She enjoyed family history, presidential women, and White House history. As long as she was with family, she was happy.

Her grandchildren and great grandchildren specifically enjoyed her making buttermilk pancakes on Wednesday morning while playing “20 questions” before we were awake, her “penny puffs” (dinner rolls) for special occasions, and mac and cheese and chocolate chip oatmeal cake for when grandchildren and great grandchildren would visit.

Memories will keep her in our heart forever.
