Herman Lewis Jr.
Jan 29, 1944 — May 20, 2026
Herman Lewis, Jr, 83 of Colorado Springs, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026. Herman was born in Larose, LA on January 29, 1944. He was one of eleven children
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Nellie Sisson Lewis, his son Erik Lewis,Sr (daughter in law- Melissa), and his daughter Natosha Lewis-Tunheim (Son in law - Aaron), his granddaughter Ciera, Lyndsey, Aryana and Mya and grandsons Anthony and Erik Jr. His brothers Wilbur, Anthony, Charles, Rayfield and sister Geraldine Mattear. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Herman Lewis Sr and Gladys Marts Lewis, sisters Velma, Audrey, Mildred and Shirley and brother Kenneth Lewis
He was an elder at Gethsemane Christian Fellowship for over 30 years. He had a deep love for the Lord and was able to touch others’ lives. He was a simple man who loved to experience different cultures and learn new things. Herman was a man of few words but deep-seated wisdom which he loved to pass on to his children and grandchildren. He was always spreading laughter and kindness, but possessed a quiet and sturdy strength. Herman found immense joy in signing praise and worship with those he loved. We think Herman’s last message to the world would be that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life and He loves all who come to Him. He had a love of life and enjoyed helping others, spending time with his family, gardening, BBQing and cracking jokes. A Celebration of Life will be held at 13035 Green Meadow Dr. Elbert, CO on July 25, 2026 at 2:30 PM.
