James Robert Cockrell

James Robert Cockrell, 79 of Tazewell, VA passed away on June 20th, 2026 in Colorado Springs CO. He was born on May 20th 1947 to Robert Thompson and FLorell Cockrell in Tazwell VA. James went to St Mary's High school and graduated in 1975. He went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from National American university. James was in the Army for 23 years where he served fighting for our country. James received numerous awards from the Military including the Bronze Star. He was a Deacon of the church. He was preceded in death by his Mother Florell Cockrell, Dad Robert Thompson, Sister Lettie Harvill and Brother Calvin Cockrell. James is survived by his Daughter Miriam Cockrell, Grand Daughter Jade Cockrell, Grand Son Jordan Cockrell, Ex-wife Ute Cockrell, Great Grand Kids , Sha-Quille, Ma'Laki, Jayda, Amari, Ezekiel, Aries, Buddy. Services will be at Springs Funeral home at 3115 E platte Ave Colorado Springs, Co 80909. On July 10th at 10 am.
