Kimberly Glen Burleson

Jul 10, 1949 — Apr 5, 2026

Kimberly Glen Burleson (“Kim”), 76, of Woodland Park, Colorado, passed away peacefully.

(A service date will be shared at a later time.)

Kim was born in Van Nuys, California, to Shirley and Beryle Burleson. He spent most of his childhood and life in Oklahoma City, where he and his wife, Yvette, welcomed their only child, Todd. Eventually, they settled in Woodland Park, CO, which he called home beginning in 1995. It was there that he built the next chapter of his life rooted in creativity, craftsmanship, and family.

Kim was an artist through and through. He owned and operated his own frame shop and art gallery, where he became known for his meticulously crafted frames and unmatched attention to detail. His work wasn’t just something you saw, it was something you felt. He cared deeply about doing things the right way, taking the time to get every detail just right.

Art wasn’t just his profession, it was how he saw the world. He worked across all kinds of mediums, though watercolor was his favorite. He found inspiration everywhere and would collect things most people would overlook, shoelaces, rocks, anything that might one day become part of a project. Over the years, he built model airplanes, pursued precision in ways most people wouldn’t have the patience for, and even held a world record in slot car racing. That same mindset carried into everything he did. At one point, he designed and built an addition onto his home entirely on his own, from the initial plans all the way through construction.

He loved music from the 60s and 70s, and there was always something playing on the record player. From The Beatles to The Supremes to Jethro Tull, he would light up when the oldies station came on. Road trips were often set to James Taylor as the family drove across the plains to be together for Christmas.

Kim was quiet, reserved, and deeply thoughtful. He wasn’t loud or flashy, but he loved his people in a way that was steady and real. He kept a small circle, including a regular poker group, but his world was centered around his family. He adored his mother, Shirley, and his sister, Jamee, and always carried a deep connection to them.

He is survived by his wife, Yvette Burleson; his son, Todd Burleson; his sister, Jamee Phillips, his brother, Champ Burleson; preceded in death by his brother Chlee Burleson.

He leaves behind more than the things he built or the art he created. He leaves behind a way of seeing the world, where details matter, where patience has purpose, and where care shows up in quiet, steady ways.

That kind of presence doesn’t go away. It stays in the things he made, in the lessons he passed down, and in the people who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and always carried with us.
