Margaret Mary Leibfried

July 17, 1939 — May 27, 2026

Margaret Ruhland Leibfried, 86, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026.

Margaret was born on July 17, 1939, in Garrison, North Dakota, to Joseph and Blanche (Evenson)

Ruhland. She was the second of seven children and grew up in a loving farm family, attending a

country school near her childhood home during her first eight years of education.

Following eighth grade, Margaret attended Sacred Heart Academy in Minot, North Dakota,

graduating in 1959. Answering a call to religious life, she entered the Sacred Heart Convent in

Minot after graduation. During her years of formation, she attended Minot State College and taught

second grade at Little Flower School in Minot.

Margaret later served at Crosby Hospital, which was managed by the Sacred Heart Convent, where

she worked in Central Supply and assisted residents with compassion and care. As she continued

discerning God's plan for her life, she pursued secretarial studies in Greeley, Colorado, completing

two years of coursework before accepting a position at the Air Force Base in Mountain, North

Dakota.

It was there that Margaret met the love of her life, Donald Leibfried. The couple was united in

marriage on September 1, 1984, in Mountain, North Dakota. Following Donald's transfer to

Colorado Springs, Colorado, they established their home and built a life centered on faith, family,

and service.

Margaret was a devoted member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Colorado Springs. Her deep

faith guided her throughout her life and was reflected in her kindness, generosity, and dedication to

helping others. She treasured time spent with family and friends and was known for her gentle

spirit, warm smile, and caring heart.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Leibfried; her parents, Joseph and

Blanche (Evenson) Ruhland; and her brothers, Herman, Leo, and Vincent Ruhland.

She is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Sister Anna Rose, OSB, and Joan Sorenson; her

brother, Mark Ruhland; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear

friends whose lives were enriched by her presence.

Margaret's life was a testament to faith, perseverance, compassion, and love. Her memory will live

on in the hearts of all who knew her.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23
