Virginia Ann Mobley, age 79, passed away peacefully after a battle with cancer on June 6, 2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Virginia was born on September 26, 1946, to Ron and Viola Lewis in Baker, Oregon. Throughout her life, she was known for her dedication to her community, her love of learning, and her adventurous spirit.

Virginia served as a jailor at the Teller County Jail for six years before beginning a fulfilling career as the Director of the Victor Public Library. She took great pride in serving others and helping foster a love of reading within her community. Among her accomplishments, she earned recognition for both Expert Marksmanship and Distinguished Marksmanship.

She found joy in traveling, reading, gardening, and birdwatching. Whether exploring new places, tending to her garden, or enjoying the beauty of nature, Virginia embraced life with curiosity and appreciation.

Virginia was first married to Rick Rice, and together they welcomed two sons, Russel and Cole Rice. She later married John Mobley and lovingly became stepmother to Bill, Bob, and Charles Mobley.

She is survived by her sons, Russel (Shelley) Rice and Cole Rice; her stepchildren, Bill (Von), Bob (Berta), and Charles (Ingrid) Mobley; her grandchildren, Elisha (Garson) Thompson, Miranda Rice, Stephen Cano-Rice, Andrea (Ricky) Larson, and Kinley Rice; and her great-grandchildren, Sage Thompson, Ryker Rice, Hudson Thompson, and Baby Larson.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, John Mobley; her sister, Rhonda Rice; her parents, Ron and Viola Lewis; and many beloved aunts, uncles, grandparents, and step-siblings.

In accordance with Virginia’s wishes, no funeral services are planned.

In lieu of flowers or cards, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Virginia’s honor to the Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care, 2550 Tenderfoot Hill St, Colorado Springs, CO 80906.

Virginia’s love for her family, her service to her community, and her appreciation for the simple joys of life will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
