Shantel Jorgenson passed away on April 30, 2026 after a valiant fight with esophageal cancer. She was born on November 24, 1973, the beloved first child of Calvin Harvey Neal and Cheryle Thompson Neal.

Shantel had a deep love for music and was an accomplished pianist and musician. She found great joy in sharing her talents with others. Some of her fondest high school memories were of performing in the marching band, where she played both the tuba and clarinet.

After graduating from high school in 1992, Shantel earned an associate’s degree in medical records from Boise State University.

In March 1995, Shantel began serving an 18-month mission in Nashville, Tennessee, for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—an experience that would become one of the most meaningful and formative of her life.

Following her mission, Shantel was married in the Boise Idaho Temple and was later blessed with three beautiful children: Braydon, Sarah, and Emily (later Samantha). She later returned to school to pursue a teaching degree and went on to share her love of music by teaching piano at Idaho Arts Charter School.

Throughout her life, Shantel worked with quiet determination and strength. In her later years, she was employed at Simmons, Hanley & Conroy, where she continued to demonstrate resilience and dedication. Through her perseverance, she was able to purchase a home in Payette, Idaho, where she spent her final two years surrounded by friendship and the loving support of the Payette Second Ward family.

Shantel is survived by her children, Brayden, Sarah (Erick) Gallegos, and Samantha; her two grandchildren, Zoella and Luka; and her siblings: Tonia (John) Peterson, Rebecca (Cameron) Moore, Kip (Mindy) Neal, and Makell (Dann) Brugger, along with many nieces and nephews.

Shantel will be remembered not only for her love of music, but for her generosity in sharing that gift with others. She found deep joy in teaching and inspiring those around her. Even during the challenges of the past year, as she faced cancer with remarkable courage, Shantel remained a source of strength and positivity. Her resilience, grace, and unwavering spirit were an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.

Shantel’s funeral will be held on Monday, May 4th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 501 S Iowa Ave, Payette, ID 83661 Viewing from 10am- 10:45am Funeral service starts at 11am
