Kathleen "Kathie" Roberts Bost
Feb 13, 1948 — Jun 7, 2026
With faith in God’s promises and gratitude for a life well-lived, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen Bost. Kathie peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on June 7, 2026, at the age of 78 in Columbia, South Carolina.
Kathie was born on February 13, 1948, in Columbia to Ernest and Aline Jones Roberts. She spent her life devoted to her family, her career, and her faith.
She graduated from Lower Richland High School in 1966. She then entered the University of South Carolina Nursing School, finishing in 1968. Recognizing the sacrifices her parents made for her to attend college, she dedicated 40-plus years to her calling as a Labor & Delivery Nurse at Baptist Hospital. It brought her great joy to “run into” former patients in the community. She would proudly remember them as “her babies”.
Throughout her life, Kathie was never happier than sitting on a beach, reading a good book. She was a member at both Holy Trinity Lutheran and Mt Olive Lutheran, faithfully attending Bible studies and Sunday School. She spent her retirement keeping up with her grandchildren, participating in a local book club, and ministering to countless friends and family with handwritten notes and cards. She touched the lives of so many through her compassion.
Kathie is survived by her husband of 55 years, Barry; sons, Riley (Laurie) of Leesville and Aaron (Catherine), of Lexington. She will also be lovingly remembered by her seven grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, other loving family, and a friend, turned family, Katrina Wine Davis of Mt. Solon, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her best friend, sister Dale Salley; her parents; and her faithful canine companion, Delilah.
While we grieve Kathie’s absence, we rejoice in the assurance that she has received the gift of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ. 2 Timothy 4:7 encouraged her, as it does her family: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Darren Mullins and his staff with the Prisma Health Cancer Institute, as well as Dr. Jochen Granja Vasquez, nurses Claudia, & Angie and the staff with Prisma Health Hospice.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, June 11 2026 from 5pm-7pm at Thompson Funeral Home at 845 Leesburg Rd. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 12, 2026 at 11am at Mt Olive Lutheran Church at 1541 Lake Murray Boulevard, followed by a graveside service with interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park at 845 Leesburg Rd.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Mt Olive Lutheran Church or Pets, Inc.
