Dr. Stacy Leigh Dembitsky

Dr. Stacy Leigh Dembitsky, age 57, of Lexington, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on July 27, 1968, at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, Stacy lived a life defined by compassion, intelligence, humor, and service to others.

She dedicated her life to nursing and education. Stacy graduated from East Carolina University in 1991 and built a distinguished career specializing in cardiac nursing. Her passion for teaching eventually led her to become a nursing professor with Midlands Technical College, where she mentored and inspired countless future nurses including her very own daughter Heather. Her influence continues through the many lives she touched both at the bedside and in the classroom.

Stacy will be remembered for her open heart, brilliant mind, and remarkable ability to connect almost any situation to the perfect movie reference. She loved experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, sharing meals with those she loved, and exploring the underwater world as an advanced-level scuba diver. Her warmth, humor, and wisdom made people feel instantly welcomed and understood.

She is survived by her loving husband, Michael Dembitsky; her daughters, Heather Harle and husband Jack, and Coral Dembitsky; her son, Keith Dembitsky and wife Carla; her four beloved grandchildren; her father, David Truitt; her sister, Reina Moseley; and two cherished nieces.

Though deeply missed, Stacy’s legacy of kindness, knowledge, laughter, and unwavering love will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
