Frederick "Fred" Alick Kyle

Aug 2, 1942 — Jun 10, 2026

Frederick (Fred) Alick Kyle, beloved husband, loving father, brother and papa, passed away after living life to the fullest at his home in Lexington, SC, with his daughters by his side on June 10, 2026. He is survived by his two daughters Liz and Chris; son-in-law Christopher; grandchildren Emma, David, Eric, and Sean; brother Richard and wife Judy; and sister-in-law, Nancy Minton.

Fred was the most loving husband and dad who would do anything for his family. He was very proud of his daughters and never short of sharing words or stories about them. He graduated from Virginia Tech Corp of Cadets and served 28 years in the Army, which included two tours in Vietnam awarded the Purple Heart, a Silver Star, Bronze Stars, and many other accolades. His goal in life was to make sure his family was taken care of, which he did up until the day he died. His kindness and loyalty to family and friends touched everyone who knew him and will never be forgotten.

He put his whole heart into things that made him happy. After retirement, through work with STAR (Shangri-La Therapeutic Academy of Riding), his kindness and comforting nature ran deep working with disabled veterans and people with mental and physical disabilities. First and foremost, his family, but not far behind was his love for his alma mater, boating, fishing, gardening, and support for his church. He was a GREAT man who will be truly missed by all that were lucky enough to know Fred.

He was preceded in death by wife, Sandy and his youngest daughter, Jennifer. Fred will be laid to rest with full honors at Arlington National Cemetery. A celebration of life service will be held on July 25th at 1:00pm at Cherokee Presbyterian Church, 3622 Augusta Hwy. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please send donations to STAR (https://www.rideatstar.org/) or Cherokee Presbyterian Church (https://www.cherokeepresbyterian.com/give). Thompson Funeral Homes – Lexington is serving the family of Fred Kyle.
