Margaret Elizabeth Salters

Jan 23, 1942 — May 6, 2026

Margaret Elizabeth Salters was born to Irene Elizabeth (Granny) and Oscar Clifford Hightower on January 23, 1942. Margaret passed at home on May 6th, where she wanted to be, looking out of the window to her yard she worked in for more than 40 years. She was 84.

Margaret is survived by her children, Tina Trice (David) Lynn Farrell, and Kimberly Mayzes; grandchildren, Heather Jeffcoat (Brandon) Tommy Manley (Becca), Paul Manley (Kimberly) Shaun Salters, David Manley, Jonathan Manley (Sara), Elizabeth Farrell (Dori), Amanda Trice-Dominick (Michael), Samantha Mayzes, Irene Elizabeth Trice, and James Trice (Alex); great-grandchildren, Katelyn Chavis, Alyssa Jeffcoat, Sio Trice-Dominick, Willow Manley, Emerson Manley, Arden Manley, Margaret Elizabeth Trice, Kai Trice-Dominick, and Crea Farrell. She also leaves behind Tommy Wood Jr, Stephanie Gibbs (Chris), Steven Jones (Christina), Victoria Clarke, and their children; and neighbor Sandy who was just a phone call away. She will be certainly missed by her beloved yorkie, “Ace”.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Ronald and Donald Hightower, Joyce Hightower, James (Jerry) Hightower, Anna Katherine Skelton; granddaughter, Christina Salters; nieces, Lisa Lavato, Irene Elizabeth (Beth) Wood; great grandson, Chapel Farrell; long-time companion, Mike Shires; and countless others.

Margaret attended EAU Claire, BC grammar, and BC high school. She worked as a graphic designer for Colite Manufacturing for over 20 years, then for the graphics department at Plasti-Line, and Image Point until her retirement. In retirement, she loved cooking, working in her garden and feeding the array of birds in her yard. Her family knows the “look” if you stepped in her gardens or messed with her whatnots on her shelves (you can look but can’t touch). She was sturdy as an oak and taught us that hard work, grit, and dirt under your fingernails can keep a woman going long past her “expiration date”. She believed in things that grew, and things that fly.

In honor of Margaret, we ask that you plant a wildflower garden and throw out some bird seeds for the “tough old birds” in your life, but only the “good kind” or she will find a way to come back and complain about it. Margaret was and will always be cherished by those who surrounded her. We rejoice in the fact that we will see her again one day.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 - To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff with Amedisys for their care during her time home.
