In Loving Memory

Nancy Norris Scott of West Columbia, died Monday, June 9th, at the age of 95. She was born in Piedmont, SC to George Frank Norris, Sr. and Emma Bowen Norris.

She met and married her husband Olin in Greenville, SC and they had five children, Craig, Randy, Lisa, Carol & Tina.

She is survived by her son, Craig; her daughters, Lisa (Danny) and Carol; her 10 grandchildren, Dale (Margaret), Corrinne, Brian (Anne), Jay (Lauren), Brandon (Jessica), Daniel, Micah, Drew, Heath (Sierra) and Alexandra; and six great-grandchildren.

Nancy attended grade school in Duncan, SC until grade 9 when she transferred to Brevard Junior College (pre-college division) and completed grades 11 and 12. She received a BS degree from Winthrop College (now University), graduating Summa Cum Laude in the Spring of 1948.

Raised in First Presbyterian Church in Greer, SC. Nancy transferred her membership to Congaree Presbyterian Church in Cayce, SC, in the late 1950’s, where she served as Deacon, Elder, Clerk of Session, Treasurer, the chairperson of two circles and a member of the choir and prayer ministry. She remained a faithful member of the church until her death.

Nancy worked for the Internal Revenue Service from 1965 until 1982, when she retired as an Appeals Officer.

Anyone who knew Nancy appreciated her wonderful sense of humor, and her love of the Lord. She was a life-long blood and platelets donor. She loved reading, working on word puzzles, and spending time with family and friends.

The family takes comfort in knowing our beloved mom, grandma and great-grandma is reunited with her husband Olin Sr., her son Randy, her daughter Tina, her grandson Olin III, as well as other family members who predeceased her.  We take joy in knowing that we will see her again.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that anyone wishing to send a remembrance consider a gift to Congaree Presbyterian Church, Cayce, SC, 29033.
