Anthony "Tony" Damiani
Aug 10, 1952 — Oct 10, 2023
Anthony Damiani, lovingly known as Tony, peacefully passed away October 10th 2023 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City at the age of 71.
He was born on August 10, 1952 in Poggio Picenze, Italy to Lidio and Eleanora Damiani.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Jenks) Damiani and his four children and their spouses, Danielle and Dennis Leote, Nicole and Manny Velez, Christina and Nikhil Subramanian, Anthony and Shannon Damiani and his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Jackson, Declan, Harper Leote and Rohan and baby brother Subramanian.
Tony is survived by his brother Alvaro and Marie Damiani and his extended family, Denise Jenks, Peggy and Bernard Calcagni, Robert Jenks, Laura Jenks and his numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lidio and Eleanora Damiani, his in-laws Charles and MaryJenks and brother-in-laws Charles and Donald Jenks.
Tony came from Italy at the age of 10 and grew in the Bronx where he met his high school sweetheart, Dorothy, who became his wife of 47 years. During college, he was drafted into the US Army where he served honorably. He worked for the New York City Department of Education as an Operating Engineer for 28 years until his retirement.
Anyone who was lucky enough to know Tony, knew what a special man he was. He was kind, easy-going and the most selfless person you’d ever meet. He loved his family more than anything and spending time together was his favorite pastime.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Donate Life America (https://donatelife.net). Tony was a recipient of a lung transplant that was made possible by this organization over 16 years ago. We are grateful for the impact they have made in our lives and what they do for so many others in need.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at TJ McGowan Funeral Home located at 71 Central Highway, Garnerville, NY on Monday, October 16th from 4pm-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church of Immaculate Conception on John Street on Tuesday, October 17th at 10am.
