Barbara Joan Tew of Stony Point, NY passed away peacefully on January 22, 2023. She was 86 years old. Barbara was born in Garnerville, NY on June 21, 1936. She graduated from Haverstraw High School and received an Associate’s Degree from Rockland Community College and a Bachelor’s Degree from Mercy College in Behavioral Sciences. She married the love of her life, Henry F. Tew, Jr. on June 11, 1955.
Barbara had a career in case management for 17 years and was employed by Robert L. Yeager Pomona Mental Health Complex. She was a devout catholic and belonged to various catholic charities. Barbara was a beautiful pianist and had a passion for writing music and the arts.
She is survived by her loving children Henry F. Tew III, Leslie Tew-Harris, Jeffrey C. Tew and Alison J. Tew; her adored grandchildren Melissa Furnari, Emily Alacar, Rebecca Tew Curns, Denae Tew, Jonathan Tew, Faith Tew, and Joshua Maxwell-Tew; and her cherished 6 great-grandchildren. Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Henry F. Tew, Jr. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 29th from 3pm-7pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 30th, 11am at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church in Garnerville, followed by interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Haverstraw, NY.
