Carol “Cookie” Gentile (nee Laiacona) passed away peacefully on March 13, 2024. She was 82 years old. She was born in the Bronx, NY on December 7, 1941 to Mary and Benedetto Laiacona. Carol graduated from Evander Childs High School in the Bronx, NY. She was in a long-term relationship for many years with Roy Seixas. They moved to West Haverstraw, NY to be closer to her family. Carol worked as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Healy and Dr. Molinaro Family Dentistry. She loved being surrounded by her family (especially on holidays), and cooking delicious food. She enjoyed playing three card poker, decorating ceramics, listening to Engelbert Humperdinck, and watching the GSN or Lifetime channels.
She is survived by her three children: Joseph Gentile (Marie), Anthony Gentile (Jean), and Carol Faleri (Joseph). She is also survived by her seven adored grandchildren: Gina Dibble (Ted), Andrea DiCanio (Michael), Joseph “JoJo” Gentile (Allison), Alyssa Gentile (Thomas Cass), Nicole Faleri (Nicholas Avery), Lauren Faleri (Nicole Cefola), and Anthony Gentile (Caitlin) and her seven cherished great-grandchildren: Ryan Dibble, Lilliana Dibble, Kayleigh Gentile, John Gentile, Vincenzo Gentile, Michael DiCanio, and Giuliana DiCanio. She is predeceased by her sister, Frances Vitello, and brother, Peter Laiacona. She will be missed greatly by her family and all who knew her. Family will receive friends on Monday, March 18, 2024, from 4pm - 8pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 10 am at Immaculate Conception Church, Stony Point, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
