Carolina Iavarone, 89, of Stony Point, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on November 25, 2023. She was born in Caserta, Italy on June 25, 1934. Carolina’s parents passed very young and at the age of 5, her and her siblings were placed in an orphanage. At the age of 19, her aunt sent for her, and she came to New York where she met her husband, Carmine Iavarone. They married and raised four children in the Bronx. Carmine passed away suddenly leaving her a widow at age 42. Carolina then moved to Yonkers and held several positions in the food/supermarket industry. Following her older daughters, she moved to Stony Point where she had lived for the past twenty years. Carolina retired from ShopRite at age 81.
Carolina is survived by her children: Marianna Iavarone, Stefania (Paul) Bonanni and John (Giuliana) Iavarone. Her grandchildren: Jessica (Kyle) Nunes, Anthony (Christine) Salvatore, Michael (Melodie) Belotti, Christopher Belotti, Nicole (Nick) Ragone, Melina Iavarone, and Gabriel Iavarone. Her great grandchildren: Kai and Rio Nunes and Michael and Maverick Belotti and son-in-law Michael Belotti. She is predeceased by her oldest daughter, Angelina Belotti.
Carolina’s greatest joy was cooking and spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her incredible strength.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 3pm-7pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 30, 10am at St. Peter's Church, Haverstraw, NY followed by interment at St. Raymond's Cemetery, Bronx, NY.
