Dorothy E. Mc Namara 97, of Garnerville, NY passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family on January 12th, 2020.
Dorothy was born in the Bronx NY to her late and loving parents William & Catherine Glock.
After the passing of her mother at a young age Dorothy devoted herself to raising her siblings and helping her father with their home.
She later met James Mc Namara Sr. at a Roller Rink, in Manhattan, where they fell in love and later married during James’ time in World War II.
Later they settled and made their nest in Garnerville, NY and began to raise a family of five.
Dorothy was a born caregiver and after raising her siblings it was easy for her to devote herself to her children.
Mackey was a member of the Holy Rosary Society, the American Legion, the Haverstraw Seniors and was a founding member of St Gregory Barbarigo Church.
Motherhood was her passion, to love, to care and to protect was what kept her heart pumping.
She loved her grandchildren and cherished her great grandchildren.
She will forever be loved and missed.
Mackey is predeceased by her husband James Mc Namara Sr, her parents William & Catherine, siblings Jack, Eddie, Charles & Willie Glock, Margie Rifle, daughter Kathleen Hanlon (John Hanlon).
She is survived by children James Mc Namara Jr. (Norma) Thiells, NY, Mary Gwizdak (Gregory) Thiells, NY, Eileen Oot Syracuse, NY, Thomas Mc Namara (Marie) Tomkins Cove. Best Friend Flo Dwyer Thiells, NY. Grandchildren Diana (Patrick) Carey, Andrew (Michelle) Mc Namara, Kevin & Michael Hanlon, Daniel (Anne) Gwizdak, Gregory Jr. Gwizdak, Brian & Michael Oot, Kelcie Mc Namara, Joann Slevin & family. Five Great Grand Children and many Nieces and Nephews .
The family will be receiving friends and relatives on Thursday January 16th 2020 at the TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home on 71 N. Central Highway Garnerville. NY 10923 between the hours of 4PM till 8PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church, 21 Cinder Rd. Garnerville, NY on Friday January 17th at 10:30AM.
Mackey will be laid to rest beside the love of her life on Friday January 17th at the Frederick Loescher Veterans Memorial Cemetery in New Hempstead, NY.
