Edward Van Kluyve passed away peacefully on December 8th, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born at home on March 31st, 1935 in Clifton, NJ to William & Gertrude Van Kluyve, and has been a resident of Rockland County since 1959. Ed retired in 1988 after a 30-year career with the NY State Police. For a number of years he was the Commander of the State Police detail in Rockland County. He is also the recipient of the State Police’s highest honor, the Brummer Award, and the Sen. Alfonse D’Amato Police Valor Award. He is survived by his beloved wife Margaret (Peggy), daughters Linda (Paul) Nugent of Texas and Karen Lawrence of New York. Upon marrying his beloved Peggy, Ed felt he was doubly blessed as he gained four more children to love and enjoy, Jeanne (William) Rivera, Theresa (Chris) Wamsley, Patricia (David) Heuvel Dentico, and Daniel Heuvel, all of New York. He is also survived by his brother John of New Jersey, and will be greatly missed by his ten grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday, Dec. 13th from 3-7pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home, Garnerville, NY. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, Dec. 14th, 11am at Saint Gregory Barbarigo Church, Cinder Road, Garnerville, NY. In lieu of flowers, Ed would be pleased with donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN.
