Eleuterio Collazo, “Pop”, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 8, 2022 at the age of 87. Eleuterio was born in Villalba, Puerto Rico to Ventura and Teresa Collazo. Eleuterio proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, he married his sweetheart, Teresa Blanco and together they raised their 5 children in Haverstraw, NY. He worked at Tilcon as a truck driver for many years before his retirement. Eleuterio is survived by three daughters Liza, Vicky, and Lucy and two sons Eleuterio Jr. (Terry) and Steven, who both served in the Haverstraw Police Department. He is also survived by three brothers and three sisters, 16 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Pop “Cano”, known for his strong and calm demeanor, the symbol of strength to his family – leaves a legacy of love passed down from generation to generation.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 2pm-4pm & 7pm-9pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 14, 10am at St. Peter’s Church, Haverstraw, followed by interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Haverstraw. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
