George Schmidt

George Schmidt, 93, died on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Vitas Healthcare in Santa Ana, CA. He was born on April 17, 1930 in Yugoslavia. At the age of 14, his family migrated to Austria, where he met his wife, Gertrude Walter. They got married on June 3, 1954 and immigrated to the USA in 1956. George is survived by his children: Gunther, and his wife Andrea, Sylvia, and her husband Tommy, George, and his wife, Ronda, his grandchildren: Skye, Jade, Emily, Gregory, Raymond, Ryan and his great grandchildren, Tanner, and Vance Koachway. He is also survived by his sister, Hilde, Zanner, and brother Stefan Schmidt, both of Auschwitz, Germany. Funeral services will be held at Saint Gregory Barbarigoo Church in Garnerville, NY on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 11 AM. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery and Haverstraw, NY.
