James “Poppi” Patrick McNaughton passed away peacefully with his family by his side on September 6th, 2023. He was 83 years old. Jim was born in the Bronx on December 11th, 1939, to Anne and James McNaughton. He proudly served as a US Marine. He then worked as a surveyor, helping to plan the building of skyscrapers and other complex structures in New York City. Jim married Jane (Halloran), his “Pearl River Pearl” on June 14th, 1969. They moved to Garnerville, NY where they raised 3 children. Jim loved art, Frank Sinatra, the NY Giants, the Brooklyn Dodgers, and the NY Mets. He was an avid reader (especially Terry Brooks and Stephen King), a huge fan of science fiction TV and films, and loved sharing all his favorite things with his grandsons, Sean and Aidan.
He is predeceased by his loving wife Jane, his sister Geraldine Valentine, and brothers Frank and Robert. He is survived by his sister Patricia (Thomas) Leydon and brother Tom (Fran), children Jennifer Herman of Garnerville, NY, James McNaughton of Albany, NY, John (Sheila) McNaughton of Pearl River, NY, grandsons, Sean and Aidan McNaughton of Pearl River, NY, many dear nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers-in law, beloved friends, and his faithful dog, Willie.
