Janet M. Burns, 92, of Stony Point, NY, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2021. She was born in Stony Point on November 5, 1928. She married John Burns on November 3, 1946 and they raised two daughters and a son together. Janet worked in many local restaurants and eventually retired from Pomona Health Complex. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters, and Palisades Parks Historical Society. Janet is survived by her daughters Carol Simmoneau and her husband Glenn of Stony Point, NY, and Kathleen Maffia and her husband Pete of Algonquin, IL, granddaughter Natalie Rose Maffia, grandson Albert J. Simmoneau, her brother Robert and his wife Doris Halstead of Bradenton, FL, as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband John, her son John, and her brothers Frank and William. She will be missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 22 from 4-8pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 23, 10am at Immaculate Conception Church in Stony Point followed by interment at Frederick Loescher Veterans Cemetery, Spring Valley, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Immaculate Conception Church and The Stony Point Fire Department.
