Joan Redling, of West Haverstraw, NY, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026. She was 86 years old.
Joan was born in New York, NY on New Year’s Day – January 1, 1940, later moving to the Bronx, NY. She was the second of 3 children – the younger sister of Florence (Buffardi) and older sister of Matthew Bibbo. In her early working years, Joan was employed by American Cyanamid and Lederle before becoming a homemaker to stay at home with her children. Joan remarried Julius Redling on April 29th, 1973, and they eventually moved to Haverstraw, NY, to raise their 3 children. She was always known as a kind person with a good heart and excellent Italian culinary skills. Joan rejoined the workforce as a school monitor in the North Rockland Central School District, making a number of new lifelong friends. Her key passions in life were spending time with her family, playing bingo throughout Rockland County, special trips to Atlantic City, joining her children on vacation and cooking enough for a small army.
Joan is survived by her beloved children - Jim and his wife, Mimi; Tom and his wife, Miriam; and Nick and his wife, Bonnie. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Vanessa, Anthony, David, Matthew, Andrew, and Isabelle and her great-granddaughter Keira, as well as many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband Julius and her brother Matty and sister Florie.
Family will receive friends on Friday, February 6th from 4-8PM at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 71 North Central Highway, Garnerville, NY. Mass will be held on Saturday, February 7th at 10:00AM, Saint Peter’s Church in Haverstraw, NY.
