John Gaynor

John Gaynor, of Stony Point, New York, passed away suddenlyon October 16th, 2021. He was 59 years old. John was born and raised in Stony Point and spent most of his life there. He attended St Gregory Barbarigo elementary school and North Rockland High School, where he met many of his life-long friends. He was a dedicated fan of the Boston Red Sox and the NY Islanders. He was a favorite of his seven nieces and nephews; Allison, Brian, Kevin, Linda, Matt, Nick and Ryan. He will be deeply missed by his daughter and all who knew him. He is survived by his daughter Shannon (Chris Mersits) as well as five brothers and sisters; Maureen (Tom Wright), Eileen (Mullin), Jimmy (Maureen), Greg (Laura), and Brian (Kristen). He is also survived by his father John. His mother, Mary, passed in 2015 and his brother Brendan passed in December 2020. Services will be held at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville, NY on Thursday, October 21 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm. Mass will be held on Friday, October 22nd at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church in Garnerville at 11:00am, followed by interment at Ascension Cemetery, Airmont, NY.
