Mary (Maura) Kitz of Garnerville formerly of County Galway, Ireland passed away at home, surrounded by her family on February 11, 2019. Mary was 81 years old. She was born in County Galway Ireland on September 11,1937 to Patrick and Julia Gilligan. Mary was predeceased by, Francis Kitz, her loving husband on May 27, 1993. She was a warm, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Mary is survived by her three children, Caroline Miller and her husband Walter of New City NY, Maureen Kitz of Garnerville NY, and Peter Kitz and his wife Tracey of Malta NY. Four grandchildren, Frankie Miller, Connor Miller, Keeley Kitz and Maeve Kitz, survive Mary. She is the dear sister of Kathleen Jennings of River Edge, NJ and Nancy Walsh of Ireland. Mary is predeceased by her brother Tommie Gilligan and sister Peggy Hardiman. She is also survived by her large extended family of in laws, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are welcome to visit on Thursday February 14, 2019 4-8pm at TJ MCGowan Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday February 15, 2019 at 12:00pm at St. Gregory Barbarigo in Garnerville. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetary, Haverstraw. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, stjude.org, or to United Hospice of Rockland www.hospiceofrockland.org.
