Nicholas Niforos, 74, of Thiells, NY passed away peacefully on October 16, 2023. He was born in Highland Park, Michigan on July 9, 1949. He graduated from George Washington High School and went on to receive an Associated Degree from Mercy College. He married the love of his life, Lorraine (Bernhard) Niforos on October 22, 1970. Nick proudly served his country in the United States Airforce from 1968-1972 as a medic. He worked at Beekman Downtown Hospital as an EMT from 1943-1984. He then opened up Mama's Deli & Cafe with his brother from 1990-2006.
Nick was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 333 and Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. He had a passion for softball and pool but his greatest joys came from his family. Nick is survived by his beloved wife, Lorraine; his loving children Marc, Christian (Jenna) and Nicole; grandchildren Alexis Blattner Niforos and Zachary Banks; his siblings Theodore Niforos, Julia Papadopoulos, and Maria Niforos. He was predeceased by his sister, Letty Tsoumpelis.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2023 from 1pm-3pm and 6pm-8pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville, NY. Mass will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023, 12pm at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in West Nyack, NY followed by interment at Fred Loescher Veterans Cemetery, Spring Valley, NY.
