Patricia Ann Spong (nee Thorpe) passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, April 6, 2023. She was 78 years old. Patricia was born in Staten Island, New York on August 27, 1944, to Elizabeth Thorpe. She worked as a Math teacher at Oneida Jr. High School. She also worked as an Office Manager for a number of dental practices in Rockland County. Patricia married the love of her life, Gregory, on August 5, 1967. They settled in West Haverstraw, where they raised 4 children. Patricia loved crafts, reading, FOX News and Law & Order. Her greatest joy was her 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her 4 sons: Todd (Denise), Troy (Darlene), Trent (Debi), Jason (Dorothy), her 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Judith Zophy, Mary Jane Thorpe & John Thorpe (Sheila). Patricia is pre-deceased by her husband, Gregory, mother, Elizabeth, and brother-in-law, F. Gordon Zophy. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 11 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 12 at 10:00am at St. Peter/St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 115 Broadway, Haverstraw NY, followed by internment at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Haverstraw NY.
