Thomas M. Westervelt
May 29, 1950 — Apr 27, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Mark Westervelt, of Thiells, NY, on April 26, 2020, at age 69, at Helen Hayes Hospital. He was born on May 29, 1950 at Nyack Hospital, to John and Anna Westervelt. A Rockland Lake boy from the start; loving husband, father, “Ampa” and friend. Survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Patricia Moran Westervelt, son Thomas II, daughters Meghan Westervelt and Colleen Beadnell, (Josh) of Warrensburg, NY and his two grandsons, James Castaneda and Travis Westervelt. Tom worked for the Town of Clarkstown Highway Department. Retiring after 37 years, as a Highway Maintenance Supervisor II. He was a former Chief at both David B. Roche and Rockland Lake Fire Departments. Tom was loved by a VERY large family of many Brothers-in-Law, Sisters-in-Law, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and hunting buddies. He will be greatly missed, especially by his best friend, sidekick and coin buddy George Tooma, and his wife Lauren. Pre-deceased by his parents, his “Brother Bob”, in-laws Virginia and Edward Moran and Timothy and Maryanne Moran. All of them, and many loving Aunts and Uncles from the big, Italian Venezia clan will be in heaven to greet “Chucky” with open arms! A private interment will be held at Gethsemane Cemetery. A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association in his name.
