Carmen L. Veras

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Carmen L. Veras on Tuesday, August 9th, peacefully at home surrounded by her beautiful family. Born September 26, 1956 in Dominican Republic. She was daughter of the late Jose and Ysabel (Lopez) Veras. Carmen arrived to the United States at the young age of 12. She graduated North Rockland High School and then preceded to devote time and passion into serving the community. She worked as an aide for those who are mentally and physically disabled. She also volunteered at People to People for 25 years. Carmen is survived by her sons Serge (Tiffeny), Michael (Jasmin) and Anthony (Amanda). She was blessed to have so many grandchildren: Lorriah, Jenese, Serge Jr., Jasyla, Javin and Alivia. Carmen is survived by her brothers Robert (Marisol) Veras, Jose Veras, Carlos (Arlene) Veras, Juan (Senia) Veras, Rafael Veras, sisters Rosario (Don) Ippolito, Mercedes Veras and Lourdes (Bill) Reda as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Friends and family can call Wednesday, August 17th from 4:00-8:00 at McGowan Sons Funeral Home 133 Broadway, Haverstraw, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peters Church 115 Broadway, Haverstraw, NY at 10:00 am. Interment burial to follow at Ascension Cemetery Airmont, NY.
