Dennis F. Collins, 77, of Garnerville, NY, passed away at home, Thursday, October 1, 2020. Originally from Inwood, NY, born July 22, 1943, to Clifton & Helen Fischer Collins. Attended P.S.52, & the New York School of Printing, then served in the US Army (1964-1966). Celebrating 53 years together & a lifetime of love that began May 20, 1967, when Dennis married Barbara (McGovern) Collins, at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Inwood, NY. After several summers of working with Grandfather, Leo Fischer, in Copper Photo Engraving & Advertising, Dennis worked 20 years for NYC Sanitation, Manhattan District. He believed in community, always lending a hand. He was an avid reader & shared a goldmine of favorite music, film, & humor that sustains our bonds forever. He enjoyed swimming with his children & grandsons, gardening, sports, daily walking, watching sailboats along the Hudson River, & always looked forward to family vacations together in Ocean Beach, NJ. For over 40 years Dennis was a faithful parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo, Catholic Church. Survived by his wife, Barbara & daughters, Debbie, Denise(Mugsy), & Katherine; his grandsons, Michael & Nicholas; nephew/nieces, & brother. Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, & sister, Mary A. “Sissy”(Mike). Dennis was a hardworking, humble man, & a loving, devoted husband, father & friend. To know him, was to love him. Per his wishes, there will be no services. Funeral arrangements will be handled by TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville, NY.
