Diane Marie Decaprio
d. Jan 24, 2019
Diane Marie DeCaprio (Gorman), age 75, of Haverstraw, died on Thursday January 24, 2019 at Nyack Hospital. From her birth in the Bronx, on August 29, 1943 to her death on Thursday she nourished and loved those people around her. She was born in the Bronx, the fourth out of six daughters; she was a shining light to her parents and siblings. In 1959 she met the love of her life; John DeCaprio. In June of 1963, they were married and that began the adventure of a lifetime. Left to honor her love and memory are Diane and John’s four children, Gina (Jeff) Starstrom, Peter (Adrianne) DeCaprio, John (Sallie) DeCaprio Jr. and Phyllis (Peter) Rafferty; her 11 grandchildren, Michael (Marina), Megan (Michael), Ryan, Andrew, Amanda, Madison, Sydnie, Isabella, Jace, Petey, and Scarlett; her great-grandchildren: Melody, Mason and Lily, her three sisters: Penny, JoAnne and Kathy (Ernie); her sisters-in-law: Rosemarie (Donald) and Susan; her brother-in-law Tom, and many nieces and nephews. Diane was preceded in death by her parents Ellen and William, and by her sisters, Pat and Ginger.
Diane will be remembered for her shining light and love. She was the best daughter, sister, wife, mother, grand-mother and great grand-mother that anyone could ask for. Her ability to love and touch everyone has set the example for her family to follow.
Diane’s family will receive friends and relatives at T.J. McGOWAN SONS FUNERAL HOME, 133 Broadway, Haverstraw, NY on Monday, January 28, 2019 from 3-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Diane on Tuesday, January 29 at 10 AM at St. Peter’s Church in Haverstraw, with interment to follow at F.W. Loescher Veterans’ Cemetery.
