Dorothy Theresa Burns Gizzi passed away peacefully on May 21 2024 surrounded by her loving family at Montefiore Nyack Hospital Nyack N.Y.
Dorothy affectionately known as Dot was born in West Haverstraw N.Y on October 7 1930 to Leo Burns and Mary (Novack) Burns. She graduated from Immaculate Conception grade school and attended Haverstraw High School.
Dorothy married Augustine (Gus) J. Gizzi on June 15 1952. They lived in Haverstraw N.Y. where they raised their 3 children. She loved cooking and spending time with her family.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters Theresa Gizzi of Stony Point N.Y., Mary Jane Perry of Harriman N.Y. and her cherished grandson Joseph Perry of Haverstraw N.Y. She is also survived by her brother Michael Burns of West Haverstaw N.Y. and her sister Margaret Leahy of Garnerville N.Y. and many niece's and nephew's. She was predeceased by her husband Gus and their beloved son Joseph.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Peter's & St. Mary's Church 115 Broadway Haverstraw N.Y. on Wednesday May 29 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery on Route 9W in Haverstraw N.Y.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to St. Peter's & St. Mary's Church at 115 Broadway Haverstraw N.Y.
