Edward F. Carlevaro, affectionately known as Uncle Eddie, 80, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2023 at his home in Walnut Hill. Edward was born in Passaic, NJ on September 17, 1942 to Rudolph and Evelyn (Matteo) Carlevaro. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Rutherford, NJ. His family owned and operated the Dairy Queen in Stony Point, where Edward happily worked from 1969 to 1975. He enjoyed the interactions with the customers and made many lasting friendships during this time. Together with his partner Dave Perez, he owned and operated the Carousel Shoppe in Philadelphia from 1975 until it’s closing in 2010. Edward and Dave traveled and made many beautiful and countless memories until his unfortunate passing in 1989. After the Carousel Shoppe closed, he relocated back to Rockland County to be with his family.
Edward is predeceased by his parents Rudolph and Evelyn, brother and sister-in-law Gilbert and Lynn (Suwak) Carlevaro, his sister and brother-in-law Frank and Thelma (Carlevaro) Farina, his partner Dave Perez and nephews Paul Farina (Garnerville, NY) and Douglas Farina (Hudson, Florida). He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Noreen Farina, Gilbert and Sally Carlevaro, Mark and Elaine Carlevaro, Bruce and Gena Carlevaro, Todd and Karen Carlevaro and Daria and Rick Baeza. He is also survived by many loving great nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends on Sunday February 5, 2023 from 4-8pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home, Haverstraw, NY. The mass will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023, 10:00 am at St. Peter’s Church, Haverstraw, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Edward Carlevaro to Helping Hands of Rockland, PO Box 240, Nyack, NY 10960.
