Jeffrey C Tew
Apr 5, 1961 — Apr 12, 2026
Jeffrey Charles Tew of Thiells, NY, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, at the age of 65. He went home to be with the Lord.
Jeffrey was born on April 5, 1961, in New York City. He graduated from North Rockland High School and earned his degree in Teaching from Ramapo College. A passionate lover of history, Jeffrey was deeply involved in Revolutionary War reenacting throughout his life. He volunteered as a historical interpreter for local museums and events, and his dedication to teaching and history earned him the Daughters of the American Revolution Teacher of the Year award.
Among his proudest accomplishments was creating and organizing the Battle of Oriskany Event at Gelston Castle Estate, which local Northeastern reenactors hailed as “the best event they’ve ever been a part of.” The event drew over 1,000 reenactors and members of the public. He also promoted and organized a memorable concert featuring the band Further at Gelston Estate, which included Bob Weir and Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead. Additionally, Jeffrey had a love for acting and appeared in several film and television roles, including at the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum.
On July 11, 1997, Jeffrey received his greatest title when he became the father of his beloved son, Joshua. He is survived by his son, Joshua Maxwell-Tew; five nieces; one nephew; and his three siblings. Jeffrey was predeceased by his father, Henry F. Tew Jr., and his mother, Barbara J. Tew of Stony Point, NY.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 24th from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home at 133 Broadway Haverstraw, NY 10927.
