“Heavenly Mother “
On September 17, 2023, our angel left us to be with her Lord. Maria Duran was 90 years old, and was born, and raised in Dominican Republic. She came to United States in her young age, and built in a new life for herself, and got married, and had her daughter Joanna Duran-Acobe. She worked at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital / Milstein Hospital for 20 years. always a hard worker for herself and her family.
Maria Duran was the most wonderful sister and aunt with her nieces and nephew. She was wonderful mother and best friend to her daughter. The best mother-in-law, to her son-in-law Nelson Acobe Jr.
Maria Duran is survived by one child which is Joanna Duran-Acobe, and two grandchildren which is Alanna and Joselin. Her son-in-law Nelson Acobe. All six and plus more of nieces and nephew which are Jenette, Jeanene, Jonathon, Erika, Christian, Michael, Tony, and others in the Dominican Republic.
Joanna Duran-Acobe family will receive family and friends at TJ McGowan Sons funeral home on Friday from 9-9:45 am, and her mass will be St. Peter and St. Mary Church and cemetery will be St. Peter and St. Mary.
As her family and friends will honor her and celebrate her spirit, and her life to thee fullest. She will be miss.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, 10am, at St. Peter's Church, Haverstraw, NY, followed by interment at St. Peter's Cemetery, Haverstraw.
