Janis Anita Jaeger

Janis Anita Jaeger, 73, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on July 4, 2026, just 5 days shy of her birthday. She was surrounded by her daughters.

Jan was born on July 9, 1952, to the late Robert Moers and Lola Penney. She devoted her life to family, friends, and animals. After her long career as a paralegal, Jan began the second chapter of her life by opening a mobile dog grooming and training business. Jan was always the first to volunteer to train and groom rescued animals before being rehomed. She also spent several years volunteering as a trainer for Canine Companions - an organization that trains service dogs for people with disabilities.

Jan never knew a stranger. She is known as Ma Jaeger in her childrens' school community - having loved and cared for many individuals going through a difficult time with their families. Her door was always open to anyone that needed a safe place to stay, and her arms were always ready for an embrace. She was the most forgiving person and believed in second chances.

Jan found solace in music - her most prized possession being her baby grand. She enjoyed several years of singing in the Charlotte Philharmonic Choir and church choir. She shares many beautiful memories around the piano with her children and grandchildren.

Jan is survived by her husband of 49 years, Don Jaeger; her daughters, Jennifer (Justin) Harmon and Heather (Kyle) Newgreen; and her three beautiful grandchildren, Olivia, James, and Emily. She was preceded in death by her son, Robbie, whom she missed every moment of every day.

A service will be held for Jan at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17 at Tribute and Tallent Funeral, 1937 N. Sharon Amity Road - Charlotte, NC 28205.
