Darlene Hawkins
December 31, 1941 — June 4, 2026
Patricia Darlene Hawkins, 84, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2026. Born on December 31, 1941, in Rosine, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late James and Anna Hall. Few called her Patricia. She was better known by Darlene or Sam. Though she was raised in rural western Kentucky, she was prone to travel - living in a few states, even briefly in Germany, until finally settling into Charlotte almost 30 years ago to be close to her family after the death of her husband, Bill, in 1998. She spent a brief career in the medical field as an administrator. Darlene was a storyteller with a remarkable memory, sharp intelligence and cunning wit. Stories were a must at every family gathering. She was an avid reader and enjoyed keeping her mind active with crossword puzzles and word games.
Darlene is survived by her two sons: Tim and John Lindsey; step-sons: Pat, Hume and Mark Hawkins; sister, Susan White; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; nephews: Lanny, Jr., Brian and Kevin Hall; nieces: Rachel Hall Clancy, Meredith Hall, Anna Burris, and Jamie White.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Hawkins; and brothers: Lanny Hall, Sr. and David Hall.
She will be laid to rest with her late husband in Alabama at a later date.
